The Research Proposal Annotated Bibliography Other Common Assignments Documentation
Conducting research is great, but if you never write it down, you haven’t met the goals of ENG 104. Several of the ENG 104 goals mention completing a research project and bringing your ideas and information to an audience. One of the primary goals is to develop an argument with evidence from both primary and secondary research, while documenting your sources appropriately. You’ll also notice that argument is one of the categories in the Writing Program evaluation criteria. While we ask that you go into your project with an open mind, if you never reach the point of making your own argument, then you have not reached the end of ENG 104.
You are also asked to present your research in verbally and visually compelling ways. Presenting your research will often go beyond a textual-based write up. In fact, another goal explains that you must use a variety of strategies that are persuasive to your intended audience. Audience and purpose is another section on the Evaluation Criteria, and a mature ENG 104 writer will be able to change their writing to meet different purposes and the needs of different audiences.
This section of Ball Point provides examples of how your final project might shift depending on the audience and genre of your assignment.
