Gathering Evidence Engaging in Critical Reading Organizing Evidence Ethical Approach
When we refer to research as secondary, we are referring to the level of research in terms of access to the source of information. In most cases, doing secondary research means reading the published results of another researcher. That other researcher conducted the primary research.
This section teaches you to find, evaluate, and read secondary sources. You will learn how to use the university research library to forward your own research agenda, which is one of the goals of ENG 104 and 114. As you learn to gather research you will also meet the goal of collecting and evaluating sources. This section also helps you meet the goals of critical and analytical reading, speculation, and analysis as you work through how to engage with your sources. Finally, you’ll work toward organizing and synthesizing research information.
